DO NOT HIT REPLY TO RESPOND TO THIS MESSAGE.

Earlier in the Fall, I offered the idea of a survey to determine the
background and job positions of members of our list. The notion was met with
some enthusiasm, so here is my best effort.

Listed below you will find a number of nouns and adjectives. Choose the
words that BEST describe what you do PRIMARILY (most of the time), how much
you do it, clients with whom you work, and where. Keep in mind I will tally
the number of responses for each word. Please don't worry about your
official job title. Job titles vary from place to place. Be sure to read
down the entire list. Choose as many words as apply. Also, please tell me
the official title, spelled out, of your degree(s) and/or certification(s).
If you must add a word that is vital to communicate who you are and what you
do, please do so, but please do not write a paragraph describing your job.

Please respond in an email listing the words you have chosen DIRECTLY TO ME
at dwyoho@aol.com. DO NOT HIT REPLY. I will tally the results and report
them to the list.

It will be helpful to me if you will include your name in your response. I
will not release this information. But this will allow me to keep track of
how many people answer the survey.

Here is a sample reply to illustrate, which are the words I picked for myself:

"Local, private, adult education agency, full-time, literacy professional,
administrator, adults, seniors, children, Education Specialist degree (Ed.S)
-Debbie Yoho"

Doing this over the holidays will be good for some people, bad for those away
from their computers. Therefore, I shall post this message weekly through
the end of January, to insure that everyone has the chance to reply. After
you have responded, please ignore future repeated postings, with my apologies.

NIFL moderators expect to meet in Washington sometime after the new year.
You might also take this opportunity to add any suggestions, complaints,
praise, whatever concerning our discussion group so that I can take that info
with me to the meeting.
