To all,

Alas, the techno-poltergeists are hovering nearby! My message yesterday
appeared in MIME format (twice!) and then the ordering form for my book
didn't appear when you click on the link from my Web site. I think (and
certainly hope) that the MIME problem is now fixed. The ordering form is a
snafu between the Web developer and my Web hosting company and should be
resolved very soon. My apologies.

Here are my solutions: 1) I am re-sending the announcement of my book (see
below). If it doesn't work this time, let me know and I'll e-mail you
directly. 2) If you want an ordering form for the book, I will either fax or
mail it to you. Please e-mail me directly at helen@healthliteracy.com. For
the sake of the 500 or so NIFL-Health subscribers, do not simply hit "reply"
to this message if you want to contact me personally.

And a message to you all. I was recently infected with a nasty computer
virus that wiped out my entire operating system. This happened even though I
had not opened the e-mail message or attachement. My lesson learned is that
it is necessary to purchase the latest version of anti-virus software. Live
updates are not sufficient.

*************************************************
Hello all,

It's a delight to let you know that my second book has just been published.
"Partnering with Patients To Improve Health Outcomes" is about a model of
care in which patients and providers work together to improve the patient's
health. It is written as a tool that providers can use to incorporate
parterning into their clinical practice. Of note, one of the chapters looks
at meeting the needs of individuals and presents information and a case
discussion about literacy and health literacy.

Several NIFL-Health subscribers partnered with me on this book. I am
enormously grateful to those who shared their clinical experiences and
expertise, as well as the many hours people spent reviewing drafts, offering
suggestions, and humoring me throughout the process. This book is a model of
collaboration - thank you.

For more information (including how to order) this book or my first one,
"Overcoming Communication Barriers in Patient Education," please visit my
Health Literacy Consulting Web site at www.healthliteracy.com. Feel free to
also e-mail me at helen@healthliteracy.com.

Best regards,
~Helen
