Joanne Nurss, Dave Baker, Terry Davis, Ruth Parker and I published an
article on this and validated a Spanish version of the TOFHLA. This is
included in the Peppercorn Publishing book on the TOFHLA.

Nurss JR, Baker DW, Davis TC, Parker RM, Williams MV.  Difficulties in
functional health literacy screening in Spanish-speaking adults. Journal
of Reading 1995;38:632-637.

I know some readability formulas for Spanish text have been developed
along the way but have any been formally validated and published?

And are there other published checklists or guidelines specifically for
materials prepared in Spanish or translated from English?
