Five years (with support from CDC), World Education set out to develop a program designed to meet the health information and skills development needs of adults with limited literacy skills. HEAL:BCC staff worked with 26 adult basic education programs in eight states to pilot and evaluate HEAL:BCC materials and activities. The HEAL:BCC Curriculum and student materials are now available free of charge on the HEAL:BCC website at: <http://www.worlded.org/us/health/heal> . If you'd like hard copies of any of these materials, please contact me via email. If you'd like to see other health and literacy resources, please visit the Health & Literary Special Collection at: <http://www.worlded.org/us/health/lincs>. I am always looking for new resources to add to this site. If you know of any health and literacy curriculum; low-literacy health materials/websites; or easy-to-read materials in languages other than English (not already on the site), please contact me (see my contact info below). I hope you find these resources useful. Thanks. - Sabrina ***************** Sabrina Kurtz-Rossi Health and Literacy Initiative World Education 44 Farnsworth Street Boston, MA 02210 617-482-9485 skurtz@worlded.org >>> dwyoho@earthlink.net 12/12/02 12:17PM >>> Dear HealthLit members, I am feeling downright guilty about the fact that the list has been so quiet for so long, as I have done nothing to stimulate it. On the other hand, there is nothing wrong with a quiet period if that's just the way the members like it for the time being. I'll have some more time than usual in the next few weeks, and I could arrange for a guest speaker, or offer any one of a number of other things, to liven up our quiet spell. On the other hand, I don't want to do this if there will be little response. So I need some encouragement. This is a reality check. Please post comments about how you feel the list is doing lately. I need your guidance. If there isn't much response, I'll leave the list alone. Many thanks. Deborah W.
