HHS invested in this process because we will use the data to measure the Healthy People 2010 national objective on health literacy. There are enough health questions to create a health literacy scale. The health questions assess the ability of adults to apply literacy skills to understand health-related materials and forms. Health organizations can use the health literacy information to identify target audiences for specific types of health information, the literacy level at which materials for these audiences should be written, and the best ways of reaching them..."
