Health Literacy, Medical Ignorance & the Media conference Mar 5-6, 2004 at
U Az Health Sci Ctr, Tuscon. Co-sponsored by the AMA Foundation's Health
Literacy Proj , NIH (NCRR) Science Ed Partnership Award, the AZ Med Assn &
the Ignorance Foundation for medical professionals, public policy makers,
the K-12 community & media, etc. Keynote speaker: Sharon Begley, WSJ sci
correspondent, & Bruce Bethancourt, MD, AZ Med Assn pres. The mtg uses
topics & breakthroughs in areas such as breast ca, genetic disorders,
obesity & artificial organs to encourage "Q3: Questions, Questioning &
Questioners" about health & disease. The conference is also to stimulate
