The recent HLMonth tagline contest is no exception. We received almost 50 entries submitted by people who live across the country, work in a wide range of professions, and bring a variety of perspectives. The entries were terrific and it was a challenge, indeed, to choose just one winner. But our esteemed panel of 9 HLMonth judges prevailed. It is a delight to announce that the new HLMonth tagline is "Finding the right words for better health." The winning entry was created by Kenneth Lo, Director of Cross-Cultural Communications in the Bureau of Communications at the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene in New York. Sandy Dielh of Coastal AHEC in Wilmington, NC is the winner of the contest drawing. The new tagline will soon be in our HLMonth logo, postcards, and related materials. Of course, it will also be on the HLMonth website at www.healthliteracymonth.org. On behalf of HLMonth and health literacy advocates everywhere, I congratulate Ken and Sandy. And I thank all of you for submitting entries, sharing HLMonth information, and otherwise helping this grassroots initiative grow and thrive.
