Sorry for the lateness of this response. I'm just catching up on some
old emails.
Have you tried the Resource List at WE LEARN?
http://www.litwomen.org/learnmats/health.html

these are materials mostly directed at women and some are available on
the Internet.

Subject: [NIFL-HEALTH:4393] Best health books for a public library
literacy collection

Hello all,

My name is Emma Coleman and I work with Berkeley Reads, the adult
literacy
program of the Berkeley Public Library. We are currently shopping around
for
the best low-level books on health to update the library's collection.
I'm
looking for suggestions. We are familiar with the New Readers Press
series,
the publications from the Institute for Healthcare Advancement and the
bibliography on worlded.org
(http://www.worlded.org/us/health/docs/comp/).
Are we missing anything crucial? Thanks for any thoughts on this that
you
can offer.

Emma Coleman
