Just for fun, I ran a short bit of 'simple' poetry through the FOG, the SMOG, etc - the piece was graded at 7.5, give or take a few decimals. But I know the work to be more complex. I am very new to the issue of medical literacy, and hope through this list to gain a better understanding of advances that may have been made. I've been working on an IMLS-funded project that provides staff nurses with the means to do patient teaching at bedside, and have been alerted to the reality of literacy levels in patient/consumer health information - such as a MedLinePlus-linked general resource testing out to grade 17.5. Is there a core bibliography of medical/health literacy of which I should be aware? thanks for any pointers, Carol Perryman, MS LIS ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What do we live for, if it is not to make life less difficult for each other? - George Eliot _________________________________________________________________ MSN 9 Dial-up Internet Access fights spam and pop-ups – now 3 months FREE! http://join.msn.click-url.com/go/onm00200361ave/direct/01/
