Charlene Landis -----Original Message----- From: nifl-health@nifl.gov [mailto:nifl-health@nifl.gov] On Behalf Of Janet Sorensen Sent: Thursday, June 10, 2004 5:12 PM To: Multiple recipients of list Subject: [NIFL-HEALTH:4457] baby care Hello, all. We're thinking of redoing our booklet "Taking Care of Your New Baby," produced mainly for Arkansans who are on Medicaid. I'm looking for other examples, good and bad, of baby care and "well-child" care materials for the general public and especially for low-literacy audiences. After we've reviewed similar materials, we're planning to do a focus group or some kind of testing with people of various reading levels and backgrounds. We also have a Spanish version of the booklet that we'll tackle next. Also, if anyone has time to check out the booklet on-line at http://www.afmc.us/Files/pdf_files/health_info/wellchild_manual.pdf and offer feedback, I'd love to hear it. Feel free to respond off-list to jsorensen@afmc.org. This booklet was produced before I worked here, so don't be afraid of hurting my feelings. I already see things that could be improved, but I won't color your opinion by naming them. Right now it is printed on glossy coverstock to make it durable and attractive, with rounded corners, saddle-stitched at the top. (It was originally designed to attach to diaper bags, but we stopped attaching the metal loop a while back.) This is all likely to change on reprinting, as we're also looking for ways to cut costs without sacrificing effectiveness. Thanks for any help you can provide!
