Research and Teaching Forum
October 1-3, 2004
Indianapolis, Indiana

There's still time to register for the American Academy on Physician and
Patient's (AAPP's) Annual Research and Teaching Forum, Opening Dialogues in
Healthcare Communication, October 1 - 3, 2004 in Indianapolis, Indiana! The
Forum will provide plenary discussions and more than 100 workshops, posters
and presentations on state-of-the-art research and teaching methods in
patient-provider communication. It will also offer networking opportunities
with national and international colleagues, as well as the annual AAPP
membership meeting. 

Early bird registration fees apply only before August 27th, 2004.

The focus themes for this year's conference are: health literacy, patient
participation and shared decision-making, dialogues between colleagues of
different disciplines, and communications research methodologies. 
 
Plenary speakers include:
David W. Baker, MD, MPH, Associate Professor of Medicine, Chief of the
Division of General Internal Medicine, Feinberg School of Medicine,
Northwestern University.

Rima Rudd, MSPH, ScD, Senior Lecturer on Society, Human Development and
Health, Harvard School of Public Health, where she is also director of
Health Literacy Studies, a research program of the National Center for the
Study of Adult Learning and Literacy. 

Thomas S. Inui, MD, President and CEO of the Regenstrief Institute for
Health Care, Sam Regenstrief Professor of Health Services Research,
Professor of Medicine, and Associate Dean for Health Care Research, Indiana
University School of Medicine.

Hilary A. Llewellyn-Thomas, PhD, Professor, Center for the Evaluative
Clinical Sciences, Department of Community and Family Medicine, Dartmouth
Medical School, and former President of the Society for Medical Decision
Making.
