Started in 1999, individuals and organizations around the world are helping to raise awareness about the importance of understandable health information. In honor of our 5th anniversary, I'm hoping that a record number of events will be added this year to the Health Literacy Month map at www.healthliteracymonth.org. I've already received new U.S. postings from Iowa, North Carolina, South Dakota, Maryland, New York, New Mexico, Ohio, Wisconsin, Georgia, Kentucky, and Massachusetts. In Canada, new health literacy events have been added to the map from British Columbia, Ontario, and Saskatchewan. And overseas, Scotland and Kenya are now on the map. You, too, can get on the Health Literacy Month map. To submit your event, go to www.healthliteracymonth.org, and click on the map links.
