This is a tuition-free two-day invitational community summit sponsored by Molina Healthcare of California, Hablemos de Salud, and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Here is the basic information about the event: Enhancing Language Capacity Summit: TeleSalud Kickoff November 4-5, 2004 Historic Mission Inn Hotel 3649 Mission Inn Ave. Riverside, CA 92501 Molina Health care of California has been awarded a grant from The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF ) as part of the Hablamos Juntos: Improving Patient-Provider Communication for Latinos Program. "Hablamos Juntos" translates from Spanish to English as "We Speak Together." The purpose of the grant is to improve healthcare access for Latinos through innovative approaches. The purpose of this Invitational Summit is to gather together key players across the community and healthcare continuum to discuss ways to help English-speaking providers communicate more effectively with their Spanish-speaking patients. At the summit we will evaluate different approaches to design innovative, affordable models to improve patient-provider communication, including language interpretation services, printed materials, and signage. Outcomes from this Summit will be used to help construct a pilot project to improve translation and interpretation access for Latinos in the health care setting. This project is one of 10 similar projects being developed nationwide.
