the Institute for the Advancement of Multicultural & Minority Medicine will
convene a mini health summit and town hall meeting for health care
professionals and the general public June 25, 2005 8:30AM-3:00PM,.

collaboration of Emory U School of Medicine, National Black Nurses Assn,
AHA and health & consumer organizations to discuss health care disparities
& ways to eliminate them, chronic diseases & health promotion
messages/initiatives that empower youth & adults. It's also an opportunity

Invitation for chapter submissions for an edited book,"Emerging Issues and
Perspectives in Health Communication: Interpretive, Critical, and Cultural
Approaches to Engaged Research."  A title and potential abstract is due by
June 30. & completed manuscripts by Oct 1, 2005. They seek theoretical &/or
applied research from interpretive, critical, or cultural perspectives that
actively engages with health problems in local, national & transnational
contexts. Appropriate submissions address issues of meaning construction,
culture, power, & inequality related to health discourse & everyday
experience, interdisciplinary & global, cutting edge trends re: health, &

through senior researchers/faculty. Doctoral students must have completed
course work and be at the dissertation phase of their programs. Applicants
must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
