The advantage of taking courses within one of the certificate programs, even if you do not plan to complete the certificate, is that you will be able to get a transcript showing that you have taken and passed a course. Neither certificate program (Teaching Adult Literacy, 9 courses for a total of 15 semester hours; or English Language Teaching, 10 courses for a total of 18 semesters) is completely online as yet.
