Hi. I am joining your conversation for the first time, I believe. My =
primary interest in joining is finding out from you if substantially =
paid positions are available in the field of adult literacy. I'm well =
aware of all the paid ESL positions, but I have yet to run across a paid =
position for working with native speakers.

While I would love to teach ESL, I lack the formal training. I do have =
a background in English, though (M.A.T.), have taught high-school =
composition and literature, have experience in instructional (Web based) =
design, and, in the last six months, have taught an adult native speaker =
to read and write.

I am no isolationist, but I am very curious as to why money doesn't seem =
to be available for those who wish to make a living as a teacher of =
adult native speakers.

Please tell me what you think.

Thanks for your time.

Elizabeth Cummings
