Black and brown people have that respect whether one is white or not. Now that respect can be lost if the teacher does not view the students with love, respect, and positivity (with children) and with respect as equals (with adults). So any teacher who feels contempt or lack of respect from students needs to ask themselves what are they doing to convey a lack of respect, love, and equality to their students. Kathleen Bombach
