We are in the final stages of preparing for the Arizona Summit on Learning
Accommodations (SOLA) sponsored by the Arizona Department of Education and
the Arizona Association for Lifelong Learning to be held on February 21 and
22 here in Phoenix.

The purpose of the Summit is threefold:

*	to provide an opportunity for many Arizona Adult Education and
Family Literacy stakeholders to come together and dialogue with experts;
*	to create end products that represent best practices in
accommodating learning difficulties in adult education and family literacy
programs; and,
*	to develop recommendations for systemic change in the provision of
adult education learning accommodations in Arizona

Participants in the Summit include representative adult learners, adult
education community stakeholders throughout the state, and national experts
including Jim
Koller, Judy Wood, Glenn Young, Richard Cooper, Jeri Leveque, Patty White,
and Diane Glass.

The desired outcomes of the summit are to provide consistency and continuity
of educational services throughout the State of Arizona and to provide
recommendations for addressing the individual learning needs of the adult
population in the areas of adult education, family literacy, and GED
testing.
