Robgsander,

I applaud your willingness to express your pain and anger here.  We're
supposed to believe that our society might be better suited to "Love one
another" than the  rest of the world, but that's not the case, and we
tend to reject those who are "different".  Very unfortunate and often
very painful for those of us who fit the "different" profile during
impressionable childhood years.

Things will change.  Maybe not better, but change.  It needs to because
what we're doing is not working.
