In my job as "academic development specialist," the Academic Development Center at my community college is getting a computer lab to the tune of 16 PC computers.

The Academic Development Unit's job is to improve the lot of students who are in "developmental" classes -- the remedial skills classes to prep students for 101 whether it's math or English. My job is speficially to work with students on the academics, as a learnign disabiltiies specialist, with students with documented LDs or "patterns of learning problems." In other words, they don't need the paperwork to see me :) My background is in LDs and instructional technology (and before that, WIldife/Fisheries) -- so I get to make the wish list for making the lab user-friendly and accessible. I've got ideas of my own and I'll be checking out educational and assistive stuff... but I'd love input *both* about what to put on the wish list, and logistical issues. I *hope* that the department/college has policies and what have you for maintaining computer labs (they're all over campus) but I don't like surprises like that ;)

Any ideas?
