Position:  Program and Training Manager

Supervised by:  Statewide Programs Director

Position Objective:  To manage Training Program and supervise designated Program staff.

Full-time position, 40 hours per week

 

Responsibilities:

1.  Direct Tutor and Trainer Training Programs

• Create and distribute marketing materials to promote training services
• Organize and maintain Regional Training Network
• Organize and deliver training workshops, both in response to members’ requests and as part of California Literacy’s Training Program
• Coordinate California Literacy Certification and ProLiteracy Certification programs
• Develop new Learning Differences Certification program
• Maintain own Certification as a Trainer

 

2.  Manage the provision of Training Workshops in various programmatic areas

• Coordinate various workshops in programmatic areas that include learning disabilities, ESL, workplace literacy, health literacy, young adult literacy, and technology
• Lead workshops in certain programmatic areas
• Organize a yearly Training Calendar for the organization

 

3.  Supervise designated Program Staff

• Ensure development and maintenance of high-quality programmatic services in designated areas.
• Oversee Adult Learner Network and EL/Civics programs.

 

4.  Publications

• Edit quarterly Tutoring Tips publication
• Help design and create publications, including Tutor Guides and other resource materials

 

5.  Group Membership Benefits

• Coordinate the provision of membership benefits to group members
• Design and implement new benefits to respond to changing needs of member groups
• Support marketing of Bookstore through field visits and materials workshops
• Respond to inquiries

           

6.  Web Site

• Direct online training content
• Implement new web-based services, including “Ask-the-Expert” and online tutor orientation

 

7.   Maintain lending library

·                                Promote use of the library by the general public and literacy tutors

 

8.  Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field.
• Minimum 5 years experience in Adult Education, including a minimum of 3 years as a trainer.
• Outstanding training skills.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
