Meryl,
You referenced the DAR as an option. Is there an adult version, or are
you using the one designed for elementary students? I understand the
value of the DAR and the assessment. My concern would be with the
material used to make an assessment for an adult reader.

Thanks.

Lauren,

I would include "PowerPath to Basic Skills" in this discussion also. It
is a
diagnostic screening that looks at Visual and Auditory Processing,
Informational Processing, Attention Difficulties and Scotopic
Sensitivity
(sensitivity to light) issues that frequently serve as barriers to
successful learning. In addition, it helps the client build the Meta
Cognitive skills that these individuals need to be able to advocate for
their learning and daily living needs.

See their web site at http://www.powerpath.com or email
powerpath@powerpath.com.

Like Nancie Payne, I also recommend the CASAS Power assessment as a good
pre-post piece. As Power is an observation based assessment, it
translates
well in the MMR arena.

Both instruments have a strong Meta Cognitive component and are unique
in
that aspect.
