There is only one version of DAR that I know suitable for students of all 
ages with functioning levels at the beginning of grade 1 through the end of 
high school.  I don't see any problem with this being an appropriate 
assessment for an adul reader.  In fact, I believe that NIFL (The National 
Institute for Literacy) now features 11 researched-based reading profiles on 
its website based on teacher administration of DAR.  Check it out:
