For all the major definitions of dyslexia translated into plain English,  you 
might want to visit the spelling.org website.  Another book that is  
recommended is To Teach a Dyslexic which can be ordered on Amazon.com.   Just like it 
often takes a thief to catch a thief, it really takes a dyslexic to  teach 
teachers how to teach dyslexics.  Hence the title of the book.
