RESNA is an excellent resource for our members. Are there any list subscribers who work for RESNA-member agencies or organizations? If so, tell us about some of your experiences. Rochelle Kenyon Moderator, NIFL-Learning Disabilities Discussion List _RKenyon721@AOL.com_ (mailto:RKenyon721@AOL.com) RESNA is the "Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America." For more than a quarter of a century, RESNA has been promoting the use of assistive technology to help allow individuals with disabilities to participate more fully in society. (The full mission is available on the RESNA website at http://www.resna.org.) RESNA is a multinational (and not just North America, we have members from all over the world, including Japan, South Africa, and England, to name just a few), multidisciplinary organization of rehabilitation professionals. RESNA created the ATP/ATS certification examinations, as a way of assuring that those who are practicing in the area of assistive technology are at least using common terminology for common problems. The website has a lot of information about the organization, the annual conference, and the conference proceedings and professional journal. For the past few years, we have been posting both the conference proceedings and the journal on-line, and everyone can access the abstracts of these articles for no charge. For a nominal charge, non-members can get access to the full text (and graphics) of the leading edge papers in augmentative communication, cognitive prosthetics, physical assists, and more. If you explore the RESNA site, you are likely to find information of interest for working with adult learners with disabilities in a number of places. Adding a short explanation about RESNA and its purpose would be helpful for subscribers that are not aware. Rochelle
