I am returning to the library world after several years of working in areas related to social justice and service learning. I was pleased to see this list created as it is important to offer a forum to address the relationships among poverty, race and literacy. I am glad to see a co-moderator is from ALA, as I think libraries need to be active on the "front lines" in providing support for literacy and access to information and resources for every person in our communities. I look forward to following the discussions. Candace Thomas Gail Borden Public Library 200 North Grove Ave. Elgin, IL 60120-5596 (847)742-2411 cthomas@nslsilus.org
