Thanks Dora. In my case with my email I have no icons. I have a text
only email format. I don't really know what Mime is except that it is a
format that some email is sent in. In my email, when someone has posted a
message in Mime format, I get a message from my email server saying that
the message was in Mime and not all of the characters my be recognized and
printed correctly, and indeed in the message there are often strange
substitutions for things like apostrophes and quotation marks. But the
message is there. I'm thinking that Mime might not be the culprit in my
case. I bet your solution may work for some others on the list, though.
