One of their most successful was a health and wellness curriculum. Learners were asked to discuss what a healthy diet is and how important exercise was to them. They were then asked to bring nutrition labels to class for their reading exercise. I thought this was a great idea in that it shows the learners how literacy pervades everything, not just getting a better job, but in everyday things like what to have for dinner. >From: "Margarita Oliver" <pegtoliver@earthlink.net> >Reply-To: nifl-povracelit@nifl.gov >To: Multiple recipients of list <nifl-povracelit@literacy.nifl.gov> >Subject: [NIFL-POVRACELIT:666] Re: health literacy dissemination effort >Date: Wed, 28 Nov 2001 22:53:35 -0500 (EST) > >Andres Muro > >Health ILLITERACY is a great worry here in the Rio Grande Valley, with so >many nonEnglish-speaking and undereducated people.
