S/he will lead diversity initiatives cited in the 1999-2004 Strategic Plan; direct recruitment and retention of students and faculty of color; promote curricular integration of diversity within each department; help students, families and faculty of color make a smooth transition into the school community; coordinate the activities of the School's Diversity Action Planning Team (an outgrowth of the Strategic Plan) and Faculty Committee on Diversity; collaborate with student and parent organizations whose focus is the integration of diversity within the fabric of Greenhills School; administer a budget allocated for use on diversity initiatives; and undertake other responsibilities assigned by the Head of School. The ideal candidate must have excellent interpersonal communication skills and a sound knowledge of diversity and multicultural issues; the creativity, innovation, and diplomacy essential to work with distinct community populations and with students, parents, faculty and administrators; the demonstrated ability to work well within a team to accomplish set goals; excellent written and oral skills, computer literacy, and the ability and desire to travel locally, regionally and nationally. Candidates must have a bachelor's degree, and a minimum of five years experience in program development in diversity. Greenhills School is an independent, coeducational day school of 510 students, grades 6-12, located on an attractive 30-acre campus in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
