Minorities Receive Unequal Medical Treatment

Racial and ethnic minorities tend to receive unequal health care treatment, a problem so serious that it contributes to higher death rates and shorter life spans. The consequences of these disparities are especially devastating for life-threatening conditions, says a recent report commissioned by
Congress. Prejudices, biases and stereotypes often compound the inequities, leading the authors of the report to call for increased awareness, more
interpreters, more minority physicians and better enforcement of equity laws.
