Despite this success, Black and Hispanic children are less likely to be fully vaccinated as White children, says the Children's Defense Fund. http://www.childrensdefense.org/hs_tp_immuniz.php Infant Hunger on the Rise A study by Boston University shows an alarming trend in the increase of hungry and malnourished children. Researchers tracked numbers of poorly nourished infants and toddlers in Boston and Minneapolis, and reported a steep rise over the last three years. The study attributes the trend to the change in food stamp and welfare eligibility. http://www.boston.com/dailyglobe2/128/metro/Study_finds_more_infants_going_h ungry+.shtml Food Stamp Enrollment on the Rise Food Stamp participants increased by close to 115,000 between January and February of 2002, according to the Food Research and Action Centers. The increase is seen as a result of rising unemployment and underemployment, plus improvements in state rules and applications processes that contributed to higher participation. http://www.frac.org/html/news/fsp/02feb.html
