I do not believe with the USAPATRIOT Act that anyone feels
comfortable speaking out on any issues on any lists that may
be read by appointees of the current administration. Criticism
of policies is seen as anti-government and thus may draw
negative fire. The ERIC data base is even being subjected to
some review to get all in line with current government
policies. This list is a good source of information, but not a
place where I would feel very comfortable saying my mind on
things with which I don't agree. There may be consequences
in grants not awarded, etc. if you state that you are not
comfortable with any current policies. This does not just
extend to the war, but to domestic issues as well. So, use
this list for information but understand that there is a chill in
the air--in general--that has served to dampen free speech in
many venues.
I have found that people who hold government grants or
work for government agencies are not acting the same as
they were in the past. Under Clinton-Gore people bellyached
all the time and there was vibrant energy. Under Bush-
Cheney there is acceptance w/o complaining. (in public).
