Ms. Spangenberg,
The CAAL publication -- and others -- WOULD sound wonderful, but I've
learned, in the 19 years I've lived in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas and
have been totally involved in adult education/literacy, that if there is
nobody in power, locally, or at the state or federal level, who believes,
sincerely and vocally, that adult literacy SHOULD be advanced, nothing will
change.
Those of you on the board, as well as advisers, are wonderful people,
but you're not that leader. (I'm certainly not, either, but I'm obviously
the most optimistic person in the world; at almost 83, I'm still working
hard on it. I don't want my self-paced program, "filling in the cracks," to
drop when I do..)
