Andres Muro,
Maybe it doesn't matter what "language" tj uses. He's voicing the
frustration and voicelessness we all feel -- and he's adding "research,"
which I, at any rate, am collecting, about inequalities, which, I believe,
concerns all of us.
While there are a number of us writing, we are from a variety of
states. Robert Reich, when he was Labor Secretary, wrote, in a small
booklet, "The New Inequality," that "only a small number of people are
interested in the education and training of adults." I've always been
grateful to be in that small group, and I believe that all of us who feel
passionately about this are a small group. (Unfortunately, his words have
been turned into state Workforce programs, which, with too many
restrictions, are getting all the funding but leaving too many adults and
older youth behind, de-promoting full attention to the full "literacy" that
WOULD "lift all boats." That inattention and neglect give permission for
the abuses we all see, of course. Nonprofit groups like mine, fighting to
"fill in the cracks," are always extremely fragile, financially.
(Incidentally, the local Workforce Board NEEDS my open, self-paced GED
program to be able to place clients that don't fit their programs, or who
aren't eligible. However, they and the other agencies, school districts,
etc., who NEED my program refuse to give me a letter of support that would
enable me to get funding. Only Adult Probation wrote such a letter --
wonderful, heartfelt -- giving full permission to use their name.

>Sorry man, but I still don't have any idea of what you are talking about. I
don't do any of the things that you are asking because I don't want to. But
I don't understand why you are asking these questions. You always say
something, something..... As we we all knew what to fill in. I have no idea
of what you are talking about. Also, the program that I work in, is for
adults. I know that programs for kids are pretty much lousy. My step kids
are in them and they hate school. The oldest one dropped out of HS. The
youngest one is alwayas getting suspended. Still, since I don't know what
you are saying, I cannot agree, disagree or converse with you. Why don't you
sent a message pretending that I am an alien and start the story from the
beginning?
