African Diaspora

The History Department and the Institute for African American Studies at
the University of Connecticut invite applications for a tenure-track
position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the field of African
Diaspora History. Candidates with a primary field specialization in
West, Central, or Southern Africa, Latin America, or the Caribbean are
especially encouraged to apply. U.S. Historians whose research or
publications also demonstrate interests in other areas of the Diaspora
will also be considered. Topical areas may include migration, gender, or
race. In all fields, preference will be given to candidates whose
research demonstrates strong interdisciplinary or comparative
dimensions. Applicants' research and teaching should complement, rather
than duplicate, the History Department's existing strength in 20th
century African-American History. Ph.D. required. Send cover letter, cv
and three letters of reference to Professor Jeffrey O.G. Ogbar, Chair,
African Diaspora Search, History Department, Unit 2103, University of
Connecticut, Storrs, CT 06269. Deadline for applications is November
15, 2003.
