32nd NABSE Annual Conference
Call for Presentation of Proposals

NOVEMBER 16- 21, 2004  Dallas, Texas

The National Alliance of Black School Educators invites proposals for
presentations and workshops for its 32nd Annual Conference in Dallas,
Texas, November 16-21, 2004. Deadline extended to July 31, 2004!
All presenters must register and pay registration fees, travel, and any
additional costs associated with their workshops.

SELECTION CRITERIA: Proposals will be judged on their relevance to the
strands, content quality, clarity, creativity, usefulness and logical
organization of presentation.

Conference Strands

1.  Leading School Districts into High Achievement (Superintendent Strand)
Proposals should demonstrate how through the specific approach, practices
or analysis superintendents will improve their leadership skills,
strengthen staff coaching abilities; develop high performing teams, and/or
implement system reform.

2.  Teacher Excellence and Development
Proposals should demonstrate how through the specific approach, practice,
analysis or methodology teachers will more effectively deliver instruction
and/or deploy strategies that lead to increased student achievement.

3.  Beyond the Technology Divide: How Technology Enhances Achievement
Proposals should demonstrate how incorporating technology as well as
technological strategies enhances educator's ability to provide more
quality instruction and demonstrate where used it has assisted in advancing
academic achievement.

4.  Spirit, Health Awareness and Wellness
Proposals should focus on the critical health and disease issues which most
often plague the African American community. Presenters should speak to the
most current findings as it relates to cause, prevention and treatment.

5.  Leadership Development
Proposals should provide a specific and academically sound approach by
which educators and administrators may be empowered to affectively
implement a strategy for recruitment, retention and career advancement
within an educational system or institution of higher learning.

6.  "Brown vs. Board of Education"
In this commemorative year of the Brown vs. Board of Education Scholars and
Researchers are encourage to submit proposals which relate to the tenets
and promise this historic decision bears. Preferably proposals will provide
relational and or analytical analysis on pre Brown education and provide
present day actions needed to fulfill and sustain the promise.


PRESENTATION GUIDELINES: 1. Proposals must address one of the approved
strands, 2. must be typed and signed by the lead presenter, and 3. must be
received by July 31, 2004, along with each presenter's registration
material and payment. The LEAD PRESENTER must be a current NABSE Member.
Presentations are limited to one (1) hour and 30 minutes, unless otherwise
noted. You can generally expect 50 to 100 conferees. Please prepare in
advance sufficient handouts for your session. Sales or promotions are not
permitted. All proposals must be submitted on the attached form. Please
feel free to duplicate the form if necessary. NABSE WILL PROVIDE OVERHEAD
PROJECTORS AND SCREENS. The lead presenter will be responsible for securing
(and paying for) all other audio-visual equipment.

Submit five (5) copies of your typed proposal to the address below. You may
submit additional information on a separate piece of paper. Your name and
presentation title must be included on each additional page submitted. You
may substitute a computer generated form if the information is presented in
the order of the "Call for Presentation Proposals" form, and meets all
other requirements; or you may download the form from the NABSE web page at
www.nabse.org. NABSE will notify the lead presenter and Scholars in
Residence of the status of their proposal by August 15, 2004.
