Hi, my name is Janet Platte. I'm new to the listserve. I joined hoping to learn more about software available for use with adult basic education programs. I am the program coordinator for a small library based adult literacy program. We currently have 20 pairs working. Students are paired with volunteer tutors and work one-to-one at the library.

We currently have 1 pair working with the Laubach Way to Reading software for the Apple in conjunction with their ongoing work in the Laubach Way to Reading series. They are enthusiastic about the program and this student has had some advancement. His tutor reports he gains confidence in being able to use the program on his own and this new confidence in himself spills over to his other work.

I'd also be interested in hearing what software is currently be used and what success other programs are having.

Thanks for this opportunity. I'm learning a lot!
