Diane,

I work for an organization called CAST and we have developed a text-to-speech program called the ULTimate Reader. It is available through Edmark as well as a company called Universal Learning Technology (ULT). Information about ULT can be found on the web at http://www.universalearn.com/products/index.html.

At CAST, we are in the process of updating the Reader so that it will connect directly to the Internet and provide reading supports to those with low-literacy skills. We are in the beginning stages of this work and are working with some folks in Even Start to see if this feature is effective.
Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks,
Peggy Coyne
CAST
