Lois,

Will your survey of LVA and Laubach groups also be limited to New York? If you are surveying outside of your state, will you post the survey on this listserv? Do you want any information from other groups? I understand if you need to limit your survey geographically to keep it manageable, but the beauty of technology is that it is not limited by geography. The Reading Program (library-based, LVA and Laubach) and probably others on the listserv would lend their experience to your survey if you desire.

We just received a Library Services and Technology Grant to do a survey of
the libraries in New York State, LVA, and Laubach groups to determine
the use of technology in reaching adult learners literacy goals.

It will consider which libraries are affiliated with adult literacy programs, the format of the technology in use (Web-based, CD-ROM, audiotape and computer, etc.), exisiting materials and websites, hardware requirements, level and type of
student, training issues, and variables which might effect learning.

We expect results of the survey to be available on our website sometime during
the summer of 1999. The address is http://www.mvla.org.

If you want more info. I can be reached at:
