DEPARTMENT: ALS/LiteracyLink
STATUS:Regular/Full-time
SUPERVISOR:Director, LiteracyLink
SALARY: Open
WORK EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 6 years professional experience in English as a Second
Language (ESL) as a teacher,
curriculum developer or instructional designer.
Experience in developing and managing projects.
Experience with computer-based learning/instruction and distance
education preferred.
EDUCATION/TRAINING:
Bachelors degree in ESL, adult education or related field.
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
Strong relationships with ESL, literacy, and/or adult learning
organizations.
Excellent communication skills: public speaking, writing, and
interpersonal communication.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Strong organizational skills: attention to detail, creative problem
solving, and ability to manage multiple tasks
simultaneously in a fast-paced work environment.
Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading ability.
Skilled at navigating the Internet and using Web browsers and email.
OTHER SPECIAL SKILLS AND/OR ABILITIES IMPORTANT TO THE POSITION:
Familiarity with federally funded projects, federal regulations,
line-item budgets and contracts.
OVERALL JOB OBJECTIVE:
Develop and manage LiteracyLink's Project CONNECT which is developing
online instruction for adults
whose first language is not English. This involves coordinating all
aspects of the project with several other
partners in this five-year federally funded project.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversee the development of all online materials and marketing
materials for the project.
Coordinate activities with all partners participating in the project.
Work closely with the partners, outside evaluator, public TV stations,
and an Advisory Group, to ensure
excellent technical support, online content development, marketing,
distribution, customer service, and
other support services.
Attend professional conferences related to ESL, adult education and
literacy, and outreach.
Provide curriculum, editorial and design feedback for the online
components.
Serve as primary contact for Project CONNECT.
Prepare federal and other reports.
Work with other LiteracyLink and PBS staff regarding ESL issues.
Perform other duties as assigned.
