We provide one-to-one tutoring for English-speaking adults in our community. In addition to the tutoring provided by volunteers, we currently offer computer-assisted literacy instruction on two PC's. Through a grant from the Lila Wallace-Reader's Digest Fund, we are working on the following technology goals: integrate technology into the curriculum, expand computer availability, diversify how technology is used in the program, and provide video-based learning opportunities. We are exploring the following technology models for possible implementation: Provide Internet-based instruction through Web TV in learners' homes Expand computer-assisted learning by providing learners with laptops to use at home Provide video instruction via television broadcast (e.g., TV-411) and/or video check out with supplemental curricular materials If you are currently using or have tried any of these instructional technology approaches, we would love to hear about your experiences, particularly pros and cons. We need to make some decisions in the next few weeks. Please respond to the list, if appropriate, or contact me personally. Thanks!
