For those of you who can not go for two weeks without turning on your
computers, here's some recommended online holiday reading. From Now On at
http://fno.org is an educational technology journal/web "zine" that has
been online since 1991. Its editor, Jamie McKenzie has been involved in
educational technology for over 30 years. Recent articles in this monthly
journal have focused on such topics as reaching reluctant teachers, using
technology as a tool to deepen student research practices, media literacy
and online censorship. The featured articles in the current (December)
issue are "Scaffolding for Success," which presents a process for providing
the right amount of structure for learners involved in technology-based
inquiries to support their exploration without confining them and "Research
Cycle 2000" which presents several ways that information literate schools
are rethinking how learners conduct research by incorporating new
technologies into the research process.

The journal is presented in full on the Web. You can also subscribe to
receive it via e-mail.

Best,

-Emily
