The purpose would be to provide intensive training in digital, multimedia product development to enable participants to produce interactive CD-ROM or Web-based learning materials or curricula, especially with a focus on low-level literacy or low-intermediate ESOL students. Each participant would begin to create a small, interactive digital product during the training, and in the following weeks would (with ongoing support by e-mail) complete it to present at a weekend session later in the summer or fall. If this Web Camp were offered, participants would be expected to pay some or all of their transportation costs to a location (likely to be) in Vermont. We will try to cover all other expenses. Applicants would need to: + have at least three years of experience as an adult literacy/basic education/ESOL teacher; + be a published curriculum materials writer (copies of published electronic or print materials would need to be submitted with the application;) + live in USDE Region I; + have easy, regular access to a (Pentium I or higher) computer and a scanner at home or work; + be comfortable using a computer at least for word processing, email and Web browsing; + have regular, daily access to e-mail; and + commit to producing a Web-based instructional product. At this point we need to know if enough potentially qualified applicants are interested. If you believe you fit the qualifications, are interested, and would like to receive an application if this were offered, please email your name, address, and telephone number by January 7, 2000 to DJRosen@world.std.com Thank you, David J.
