Many of them are only available in pdf as of yet, but we have started to prepare them in html format too. Before the implementation of the NALD-NB technology project, Literacy Co-ordinators had to copy packages of materials and then drive to isolated locations to deliver the boxes of supplies to the facilitators of Community Academic Services Programs.(These are literacy classes for adults, also referred to as CASPs). Now, with more than 50 classrooms on-line, the facilitator can simply download and print copies as required. Please note, because of copyright issues we were required to place these documents under password protection and only the faciltators of CASPs in NB have access. A separate curriculum development project was spear-headed by the New Brunswick Community College in Woodstock, to create new learning materials for the English program. By using the technology available, the developer could work at one end of the province and send draft material electronically to NALD. It was then placed in full-text on the NALD-NB website for all of the facilitators with Internet access to view, print off, and use with their adult learners. By using e-mail, the end-users could then provide feedback and additional resources to the author. The technology project has encouraged the collaboration of front-line professionals to create standardized materials that really meet the needs of their learners. The new English curriculum is geared towards adult learners who are working around levels 4,5,6. The author has emphasized Canadian content relevant to adult learners in a new format which includes a larger font size, more white space on the page, and a few graphics. References to Internet resources are included throughout. This concept has already been adopted by one facilitator who has created a package called "Introduction to Computers" for a class of older adults. This package also refers to different websites for use as interactive activites and reference material. You can view this in full-text format under the Innovations and Successes button of the NALD-NB website. Look Under Facilitators' Forum. Phew...I hope that you will find some of this useful as you start on your own curriculum project. Looking forward to future collaboration, Angela Acott-Smith Project Co-ordinator NALD-NB url http://www.nald.ca/nald-nb ************* At 10:16 PM 2/15/00 -0500, you wrote: >Hi Angela, >Mind!?
