Diane mentioned that a number of states are using or are considering =
using web databases.=20

It is technology that we briefly considered last year. We eventually =
decided it was too expensive. But how has the technology worked out for =
people? It will be useful for listserv participants to hear from people =
who have used it for a while.=20

Web databases are exciting for database administrators like me because =
everything can be administered and changed centrally.=20

But what is the investment that states and programs need to make? Can =
programs access it effectively using a 33.6 or 56k modem? Or do programs =
need a higher speed connection such as an ISDN, T1 or DSL line to use a =
web database effectively?=20
