NIFL-Technology Colleagues,

In re-reading my message below, I think it isn't as clear as I would like it to be. Here's my question to Mark. Do you think that with our present Internet tools (e-mail, chat, Web Board, etc.) that we can now create a virtual classroom which is as good as a real, face-to-face classroom? If not, what capacity (human and electronic) do we need to develop to make this possible? Or would you say that the virtual electronic world can never be as as good as face-to-face classroom learning? Why?

Emily, Mark and others,

What we can do now -- and what do we need to develop -- to create
Web-based learning environments that have all the advantages -- and none
of the time and place disadvantages -- of our best classroom models. Can
we do it now? If not, then what would we need to do to make it possible?

David J. Rosen
