If you have Microsoft Word on your computer, you can use it to give you a
rough estimate of the grade level of any reading passage. It will calculate
the grade level using the Flesch-Kincaid scale & also give you an estimate
of 'reading ease" (using the Flesch rating). If you are interested in making
this work (& it is free with MS Word!) drop me a line & I'll tell you the
steps.

Marcia,

I recommend a product by Micro Power and Light. You type in a passage then
select which assessment tools you want.  I haven't used it in years -- but
I understand that it is still a good tool.
