I admit my curiousity is piqued as well. I teach a computer literacy class &
of course I am the only member of that community who is able to afford a PDA
(an iPAQ as well -- & I love it too!). It has occurred to me that using a
PDA might be a very gentle, unintimidating way to introduce computing to
technophobes. I have also wondered if there might be some special literacy
value in having students play with the Transcriber (handwriting recognition)
program. There is something quite magical in using that stylus to write
letters & words & see them "magically" transformed into computer text.

Thoughts?

Hi Doris,
You have peaked my curiosity! What literacy class could afford to have
PDA's? unless they were donated that is. I work in an adult secondary
institution and I am the only person here with a PDA. When I pull it
out
everyone stops and stares. I would love to have a class set. I love my

PDA, a Compaq iPaq. It would be such a thrill for learners to use
them. Talk about motivation! I will be following the responses to your

question with great interest.
