Talbots Offers $100,000 in Scholarships

Talbots, the high-end womens' clothing store, is offering $100,000 in
scholarships to women seeking bachelor's or associate's degrees later in
life through its Talbots Women's Scholarship Fund. Now in its fifth year,
the program awards five $10,000 scholarships and 50 $1,000 scholarships to
women ranging in age from their mid-20s to early 60s. This year's board of
judges will include Blythe Danner, Tony Award-winning actress and
environmentalist; Caroline Kennedy, attorney and best-selling author; Marlee
Matlin, Academy Award-winning actress; Joyce Carol Oates, acclaimed writer
and National Book Award winner; and Deborah Roberts, award-winning
correspondent for ABC News and 20/20. Applications must be postmarked no
later than March 4, 2002, and are available through the company's Web site (
http://www.talbots.com/about/scholar/scholar.asp ) and in all U.S. Talbots
stores.
