Please read the information below about submitting nominees for the first
annual SITE Award for Outstanding Service to Digital Equity associated with
technology and teacher education. There are several practitioners and
organizations on this list who have made great accomplishments increasing
digital equity for adult learners. Perhaps we can collectively or
individually submit some nominations.
The information on the award is reprinted with permission of the Digital
Divide Discussion List.

Nominations are sought for the first annual SITE Award for Outstanding
Service to Digital Equity associated with technology and teacher education.
The international Society for Information Technology & Teacher
Education(SITE), has created this new award to recognize outstanding
scholarship and service in the area of digital equity and increase awareness
of the variety and range of successful approaches taken through teacher
education to increase equity over the many digital divides that affect our
societies today:
* Economic,
* Cultural,
* Physical and
* Mental.
Selection & Award Announcement:
The award will be presented for the first time at SITE 2002--Society for
Information Technology & Teacher Education International Conference in
Nashville, Tenn., USA in March 18-23, 2002 http://www.aace.org/conf/site
The SITE President and Committee on Digital Equity and Assisting
Technologies will select nominations for publication on the website. The
individual award will be selected during the SITE 2002 Conference and
announced by the special Keynote Speaker from Chile, Enrique Hinostroza.
Dr. Enrique Hinostroza is a creator of the Enlaces project that has
contributed to renewal of education in Chile with technology. The Enlaces
project is a notable example of a project that increased digital equity as
well as access to education for indigenous people, with an approach that
included teacher education.
Requirements:
Please provide a citation of between 250 and 1000 words with associated
nominee, nominator and referee details, plus web addresses of evidence where
possible. An English translation is required where necessary.
